I was recently asked if "...Precious Jewels 💎 was really about this life of stopping violence?" This major movement Advocate has doubt that women in Christ will truly stand and fight against violence. They went on to explain that
"Christians normally dwell and stay in lanes that do not even look like the movement of Jesus. Christian women seem to be more consumed about their personal life and not concerned about addressing the ills of community or what God even instructs to help and assist with...they don't want to get dirty. You can't touch the helm of God's garment if you don't get on the ground...you can't stand next to the cross without getting blood on you, but Christians will be the first to complain about the community and its sins and do nothing of major impact to change it but pray.... Civil Rights Christians of old did more...but today's Christian's are consumed about self preservation not community..."
The conversation was real and honest with direct observations of truth. Now I do believe the Christians in the era of Reconstruction (not just Civil Rights era Christians) were most impactful, but point was clearly made. Christians have been consumed with self. We have to get back to the movement of Jesus and I want to emphasize a movement....
It has to be a movement because their must be change and not just change tomorrow but change today. Movements bring about societal changes. Jesus was and is a movement that encourages the now. Change today makes sense especially from the Biblical truth that your life is but a vapor (James 4:14), you have to put the work in now.
God reveals everyday the issues that we should be addressing within the body of Christ, but we ignore the calling and movement that we should address. As my sister Flora has identified, we have placed God's calling into "Ministry Hobby"and most of our work in the body looks or is placed in this box. The problem with that is we are in a spiritual war, we are dealing with violence, pain, and death on a daily basis. Precious Jewels is not a "Ministry Hobby" we are a social movement. The question that you need to ask is how are you showing up within the movement? If God came back right now, would he be inspired at your work in his Kingdom?
I want to show you an example of an organization that is focused on a movement. They are
so inspiring. They come from various countries, faiths, and beliefs, but focus on one goal which is to cease violence against all women and children everywhere. They do not have a lot of money and many of their membership are in poverty stricken, crime ridden, limited resource areas. Most of these women are in areas where they do not have civil rights as women and the rights they do have, they have been fighting tirelessly to maintain. Regardless of their situation, they fight against violence against women. Recently they decided to come together to focus on supporting women in Palestine. They saw the atrocities of what was happening to women and children in Palestine and put together meetings and campaigns in solidarity from all over the world to do what they could do to help Palestinian women and children who are suffering in war times.
They have been having hours upon hours of meeting to identify how they could impact and show support and focus on the lives of women and children. They organized in their areas are doing what they can do. You can see their movement here. The thing I want to show is the heart and action for movement. The intent can not just be there, your work is important to service.
My prayer is for every Precious Jewel to move like Jesus, never become complacent when you see the devil attacking, and to assist in stopping to eradicate domestic violence.
